Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly thereafter exited the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals as of February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will pay for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's childhood. Sometimes, the family relied on the delivery of food that was free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who often consumed too much alcohol and treated her mother with disrespect and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran had difficulty at school and was later told she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending an Catholic primary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite not completing several classes in her first year.
